Chapter History
The North Carolina State University Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers was founded in April of 1976. The first president was Ms. Tamala Jackson along with chapter advisor Bobby Pettis. NCSU is a part of region II which is comprised of the following states: Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The original membership of NCSU’s NSBE chapter was barely forty members, but has at times reached the status as the second largest chapter in region II. The NCSU chapter of NSBE was also the host of the first annual two-day Spring Comfort Zone Summit during the ’00-’01 school year. |
